What Happens in a SOMM Breathwork Class?

We have a range of breath work classes, which are guided by a trained facilitator in a safe supportive space. You’ll be introduced to conscious breathing techniques, applicable to all levels. Whether that is using breath work as a tool for shifting states, how stress manifests in the body and we can process it, right up to how we can bring our mind, body and heart into alignment for Whole System Health.

We have breath work classes for everyone, whether that is one off classes, or if you want to deepend your practice we also have courses available to work through at your own speed. They can be attended in-person at our SOMM Studio - located just off K-road. Or you can jump into our digital library for a range of classes and courses.

It involves intentionally directing your attention to the present moment, often using techniques like focusing on your breath or body sensations. At SOMM, we offer a non-dogmatic approach to meditation, making it accessible and relevant to modern life.

  • Not at all! SOMM welcomes beginners and provides a clear pathway for those new to meditation. Our classes and courses are designed to be accessible for all levels of experience.

  • SOMM offers a variety of meditation styles, including:

    • SOMM Meditate: 30-minute partially guided meditation sessions

    • SOMM Fundamentals: Practical tips in beginning your meditation practice

    • Yoga Nidra: An evening practice to support you for rest.

    • Awareness Insight Meditation - Our comprehensive 3-part foundational course

  • Our class durations vary, typically ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. SOMM GUIDED sessions, for example, are 30 minutes long.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to sit or lie down comfortably. There's no need for special attire.

  • For in-studio classes, we provide all necessary equipment (however you are welcome to bring whatever makes you feel most at home). For online classes, you'll just need a quiet space and a device to stream the session. Headphones can enhance your experience for online classes.

  • We recommend starting with at least three 30-minute online classes weekly. Consistency is key in developing a meditation practice.

  • Absolutely! We offer a 2-week introductory pass called "SOMM Essentials" that gives you unlimited access to our livestream and in-studio classes, plus access to our digital library.

  • It's completely normal to feel restless or have thoughts during meditation. The goal isn't to clear your mind, but to observe your thoughts without judgment. Our experienced teachers will guide you through this process.

  • Yes, we offer both livestream classes and a vast digital library of recorded sessions, allowing you to practice from anywhere in the world.

  • You can sign up for our SOMM Intro Offer 2-week trial on our website. This will give you a comprehensive introduction to our offerings and help you decide which membership option suits you best.
